Building a Unified Data Foundation for Smart Hospitals
SGSC’s smart hospital architecture integrates Medical Device Information (MDI), Clinical Information Systems (CIS), SMART on FHIR Data Lakes, and AI Applications, seamlessly connecting data to centralized command centers.

At the core of this ecosystem is OCTOFLOW. By collecting large amounts of data from outpatient services, labs, and medical devices, converting it into standardized FHIR formats. Essentially, it enables different hospital systems to “speak the same language,” lowering integration barriers and establishing a scalable data foundation for AI applications.

Key Achievements at the 2026 Connectathon

Track #01: Taiwan Core Implementation Guide (Achieved Highest Level III)

• Focus: Validated the conversion of non-standard medical data into TW Core IG-compliant FHIR formats, passing official FHIR Validator checks and international code mapping.
• Highlights: Built on HL7 FHIR standards, OCTOFLOW processes both basic hospital information (HIS) and complex critical care (CIS) data. Its real-time dashboard enables efficient monitoring of system status and anomalies.

Track #03: SMART App Launch (Achieved Level II Interoperability)

• Focus: Validated web user Authentication and Authorization under the SMART on FHIR framework, ensuring secure App connections.
• Highlights: OCTOFLOW uses a “dual-portal” design that separates external authorization from the internal engine to protect core databases, successfully balancing data sharing and security.

Looking Ahead: Building a Connected Healthcare Ecosystem

The four-day event rigorously tested cross-vendor collaboration. TY Lee, Senior Sales Manager at SGSC, noted that fast cross-vendor coordination remains the biggest challenge in medical interoperability. Working closely with strategic partner OCTOREACH, SGSC quickly resolved system differences and connection issues to complete the validation smoothly.

Moving forward, SGSC will continue to follow MOHW’s digital health policies by expanding its FHIR and SMART on FHIR applications. Passing these two tracks proves OCTOFLOW’s technical readiness and shows SGSC’s commitment to building a secure and connected smart healthcare ecosystem with its industry partners.
